AdvancedMultiple applications across different Azure subscriptions need to share a single virtual network for compliance reasons. How do you architect this?

A hub-and-spoke topology: a central hub VNet (often in a dedicated networking subscription) peered to each application's spoke VNet in its own subscription. Shared services like a firewall or VPN gateway live in the hub; spokes don't need to peer directly with each other.

BeginnerWhat's the difference between availability sets and availability zones in Azure?

An availability set spreads VMs across fault and update domains within a single data center. Availability zones spread resources across physically separate data centers within a region, protecting against a whole-data-center failure that availability sets can't cover.

IntermediateYour App Service is returning intermittent 502 errors under moderate load. Where do you start investigating?

Check Application Insights for the real backend error — a 502 from App Service usually means the worker process crashed or didn't respond in time. Check for memory pressure causing worker recycling, confirm the App Service Plan tier isn't undersized for the load, and confirm Always On is enabled if it sits idle between bursts.

Practice Azure for real, no account needed

Lock down a Network Security Group that opens SSH/RDP to the internet, diagnose a Container Apps revision stuck on ImagePullFailure, or work a failed deployment in a simulated terminal — all before you touch a real subscription.

Azure DevOps interview FAQ

What Azure services should a DevOps engineer know for interviews?

Azure Container Apps or AKS, Azure DevOps Pipelines (or GitHub Actions), Microsoft Entra ID and RBAC, VNets and networking basics, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB, and Azure Monitor. Interviewers care more about how these fit into a real deployment than about memorizing every service in the portal.

Do I need an Azure certification to get a DevOps job?

No, but AZ-900 fundamentals or the Azure DevOps Engineer Expert certification can help past an initial resume screen. It's not a substitute for being able to explain a real deployment, debug a failed revision, or reason about a managed identity's role assignments in an interview.

Azure AD or Microsoft Entra ID — which name should I use in an interview?

Microsoft renamed Azure AD to Microsoft Entra ID, but most existing tooling, docs, and even job postings still say "Azure AD." Know both names refer to the same identity service — using either is fine, but recognizing the rename shows you're current.

How do I practice Azure without running up a bill?

Work through fix-the-config exercises and simulated-terminal incidents graded on real Azure CLI/NSG text first — they teach the same reasoning (locking down a security group, reading a stuck deployment) without touching a real subscription or paying for anything.
